Radio Free Culture #71: The Freeharmonic Orchestra with Unthunk and Offal Tunes

WFMU and the Free Music Archive are proud to bring you a fresh episode of Radio Free Culture, a podcast exploring issues at the intersection of digital culture and the arts.

In this episode, Cheyenne Hohman, RFC host and current Director of the FMA, was joined by Unthunk (Trevor Tunnacliffe) and Offal Tunes (Half Cocked), two members of the "Freeharmonic Orchestra."  The group of twelve musicians was organized by Steve Combs and Simon Mathewson to produce "Freeharmonics Volume 1," a collaborative album which is available now on the Free Music Archive (and which you can stream below!)

The full roster of artists includes Aglow Hollow, Blue Dot Sessions, Candlegravity, half cocked, Jahzzar, Matt Oakley, Monk Turner, Scott Holmes, simon_mathewson, Small Colin, Steve Combs, and Unthunk. Each artist worked on three songs in a round-robin array, being matched with random others from the group, and working together to make a remarkable album. Not only did they collaborate with each other, but they want to open collaboration from anyone who wants to participate! Download their stem pack from and submit a remix!

Check out the podcast at WFMU, PRX, or subscribe to the Radio Free Culture podcast on iTunes.
