Bivouac began as an avant-garde experimental music label in 2003 in New York City. Our mission is to bring you the highest quality avant-garde experimental music recordings found on the web today. Bivouac has always been looking to advance experimental music by featuring the most innovative artists and compiling a comprehensive resource to create the most inspirational experience possible. All Artists featured here were selected not only for their innovation of their sound but also in their meticulous composition and execution of their album or audio material.

Since then we have evolved into Bivouac Recording- which is a recording services company currently based in Shanghai, China. We specialize in live music performance recording, field recording, and post-production sound design/SFX for film and video.

While we still maintain the netlabel, we also devote an equal amount of time to our passion to record. Come in and experience of our sound.

'Growing Up With Shanghai' now online. “Growing Up With Shanghai” is a series of soundwalks of young Shanghainese that were born and raised during the rapid modernization of their city in the 80s and 90s. These recordings not only capture their most intimate memories of the locations where they grew up but also shows the progress and growth Shanghai has undergone in the past 30 years. The current sound of Shanghai can be heard behind the dialog and serves as a document for future generations of Shanghainese. All dialog is in Shanghainese or their local dialect. http://www.biv0uac.com/?p=510
