Tragedy Live on KBOO

Tragedy April 7, 2009 at Cook Street House. Photo by Morgan Lee

When you are a punk from Portland, and you go almost anywhere else, the first band people bring up is usually Tragedy. The fact that they were my neighbors got me free coffee for 6 months in Chicago. They played on our radio show, Life During Wartime, (every Wednesday night from 11 pm until 1 am (PDT), on KBOO 90.7 FM, in Portland, OR) on April 13, 2005.

They were really loud, really great, and then Todd played records for an hour. No one else would talk. We don't have a copy of that part of the show, but I learned about a lot of bands that night. Thanks Trag!

Live Punk in the Archive... and Hello!

Photo by Morgan of Tragedy April 7, 2009 at Cook St. House

As a new curator for this Free Music Archive, I'm so excited to be participating in this... I just can't tell you. As a bit of an introduction, I've been co-hosting Life During Wartime in Punk Mecca Portland, OR for about 12 years. We've had a plethora of bands playing on the show over the years, and that's what I'll be mostly uploading here, at least at first...

Tragedy played on KBOO April 13th, 2005. They are one of the most important hardcore bands in recent history, creating a legion of rabid fans. They are currently on tour in Europe.

So stoked to be part of this! Most uploads at first are of the punk and hardcore bands that have played live on Life During Wartime, a radio show I co-host currently with Kate and Kevin, and in pat times with Fred the Barber and Rebecca Gilbert.
