dead ceo started in Chapel Hill, NC in 1999 as a tiny record label to release media/art objects that resisted the limitations of distribution economics. For a number of years, the web site also served as a distributor for like-minded projects. After some time, it more or less became a vanity label for Woody Sullender. The current shifts in music distribution are both exciting and frustrating for artists, labels, distributors, etc. and we must expect radical changes coming in the next decade. With that said, there are forthcoming plans to actually create more objects later in 2009. Big thanks to the Free Music Archive for really taking on digital distribution in a necessary way.
