FMA mixtape club
How FMA visitors are making mixes is intriguing to me. Looking at my mixes, I have mostly three types: sets of favorites, genre or style specific mixes, and thematic mixes. I've also got one of highlights from a single artist and a couple mixes made to support blog posts.
Mixmakers, what are some of your ways of and purposes of making mixes? Do you make them for friends?
Big thanks for mixes from Jason Sigal, bennett4senate, Macedonia, Liz Berg, Fatty Jubbo, Zenguin, Idiot Programmer, ilbiscom, blocsonic, andrewcsmith, Herr Professor, and kairakuda! Check those folks. Every one of them has led my ears to tracks I would have missed. These people are mixmasters.
Let's hear your mix! This Brazilian mix always makes me smile.
I love guitars. All kinds of guitars. Here's a mix I made in 2009 focusing on that most fetishized of noisemaking devices.
I thought I would throw up a mix of artists that I featured in my first four podcasts but with different tracks.
Testing the FMA search engine for this one:
Just a few songs :)

To answer Katya's question, I tend to make mixes here for far more selfish reasons. They're usually a way for me to get back in touch with who I am as an appreciator of music and forget about what I do during the work week. At least that seemed to be the main reason throughout 2010. My Offset Your Reality Mix is an direct example of that.
Lately I've been checking out other people's mixes and hearing what I've been missing at the FMA. I've felt rather lost lately around these parts and the mixes from others help point me in different directions towards artists, labels, and creators.
So to all of you...thank you. Keep making those mixes...

I'd love to hear from more FMA mixmakers here on the Music thread. If you have a mix you'd like to share, please post it here so we can all hear! Here's one to kick things off, and here's info about mixmaking and embedding mixes.
