PATCH 03: Voice

Episode 01: Michael Woody

Michael Woody's Numbers Stations 1 and 2 is a set of files constructed to function like numbers stations. The codes have been substituted for brief messages telling what you should do and what you shouldn’t do if attacked by a bear. The work is a reflection on secrecy, control and power.

Episode 09: Noé Cuéllar

Quiver 1 is a sequence of two compositions: Panthalassa and Harrow/Dormant.

Panthalassa is a conceptual composition for solo voice that transects original vibrations of present, past, and future notions of transmission. The text-based score draws imaginary and concrete references, that can be interpreted by the performers’ premeditated imagination, immediate intuition, and underlying knowledge. These references are to be used as receptacles for autonomous, formulaic, oracular, and/or abstract prompts for vocal explorations. Panthalassa is composed for and executed by vocalist Kristin Hayter.

The second in the sequence, the graphic score Harrow/Dormant (2010), is performed by Jeff Gburek on guitar and electronics and Karolina Ossowska on violin, both sound artists and musicians currently based in Poznań, Poland.

Episode 36: prOphecy sun

prOphecy sun recorded Quiet Body in her living room using an iPhone, vintage stereo, and voice. The track was captured live in one take. The composition focuses on the voice as a symbol of the unconscious, capturing the immediacy of emotive textures and sounds that live inside her head. Her rhythms are of day dreams and future visions.
