Get the FMA App for iPhone

The Free Music Archive now has our own iPhone app! Download it here (or search "FMA" in the app store), and enjoy our library of 65,000 free and legal tracks on your iPhone. The app lets you explore music by genre, listen to the song of the day, check out hand-picked mixes, and share and download until your thumbs go raw.

The app is compeltely free, but we need your help to spread the word. Please write us a friendly review in the iTunes store. Since this is a brand new app, your review will do a ton to help improve our rankings and discovery so more folks can learn about what we do. We'd also love to hear your candid and technically specific feedback over e-mail. We know the app has its flaws, and we have grand plans for version 2.

If you have any technical questions about using the app, check our our app support page.

Don't fret Android users! We're busy seeking funds to make an Android app possible. In the meantime, one of our fans made you this.

THANK YOU!

This app was truely a group effort. We'd like to thank Greg Harrison who designed the app logo, our snappy favorite/download buttons, and the LP artwork you see when images are stuck loading. H. Faye Kahn helped us fix up some buttons (and she does a fantastic radio show.) Also thanks to Liz Berg and Ken Freedman for helping with feedback and troubleshooting, FMA expert Jason Sigal for suggesting favorite tracks and playlists for launch, WFMU's Joe McGasco was our copyeditor, and Brett Thompson built the special APIs to make this possible.

Review By: Nick Harold "FMA (Free Music Archive) has a lot to offer when it comes to free music, considering its vast array of categories - I couldn't be more pleased with the content. A lot of the provided artists I've never heard of before, but I guess that's the point, because a medium such as the FMA helps put some of these talented works out there for us to easily discover. Sound quality is great, it's as if I have the songs saved right to my iPod, and it works just as fast switching through songs. The app has however froze on me once or twice, but it was just a hiccup and worked well most of the time. I recommend this app to any music lover looking to explore outside the realm of mainstream music, because you'll be surprised what you'll find."
