This week, we have tracks from Montreal via Calgary band Braids, and Vancouver's Destroyer. Both acts have been shortlisted for the Polaris Prize, which is awarded to the Best Canadian album as chosen by members of the music media. The prize is awarded based on artistic merit, without consideration for sales figures.

This year, Braids released their first full-length album, became one of the most buzzed about bands at SXSW, and have earned comparisons to Arcade Fire. Destroyer, fronted by Dan Bejar of The New Pornographers, is probably the one short list artist other than Arcade Fire to be recognized by a large international audience. This week's tracks are "Savage Night at the Opera" from Destroyer's Kaputt, and "Plath Heart" from the Braids album Native Speaker.
